Secondly, is there any chance to arrange another red vs yellows at some point. It would give guys like me who aren't making the 3rd line yet a chance to get some competitive game time and also a chance for the main lines to try out some ideas generated from the experience gathered from the games to date. I know there's Lightening to play yet so maybe in a month or two's time.
Kev i thought this should have it's own thread to keep the forum organised.
My thoughts are that it sounds like a good idea, although should we be using extra ice time to run drills or play a full red vs yellow game?
I think the main thing that we need to work on is match fitness - a red vs yellow training session would be ideal for this. Drills are being used in wed and fri training. This is just my opinion though
Should the next extra ice time be used to practise drill or to play red vs yellow?
I think if we have a session before the Lightening game, then we should do drills and if the next session is after it then a red yellow game. I agree with Tricky that we need to work on match fitness, I can't have been the only one with wobbly legs in the third of the Ice Hounds match. A red yellow game would also be good for perfecting our shift lengths as well.

Good point that Tom. I know coaches in the NHL stress 'change before you're tired'.
Now obviously we're not quite NHL but the idea behind it that you stay fresh for the full game and need less time to recover for your next shift as well as being less likely to get stuck on the ice until you can't move is still key.
I'd have said 60 second shifts should be the target, 90 as a maximum.
If we do 2 hour slots could we not do both? First hour drills, second hour red V yellow?

I'm with Dave - a bit of both would be useful, even if it was more scrimmage than drills - eg. short drill, then scrimmage, then another short drill followed by another scrimmage.
We need to do drills, but we also need to apply them in a game situation and practice line changes etc.
